Oscar-nominaties 2022: alle 120 kanshebbers op een rij

De Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences heeft de nominaties van 2022 bekendgemaakt. Grote kanshebbers op Oscars zijn dit jaar onder meer The Power of the Dog, Licorice Pizza en West Side Story.

Een Nederlandse oorlogsfilm werd ook ingezonden voor Oscars 2022, maar die heeft de nominaties niet gehaald. Überhaupt geen Nederlandse kanshebbers in 2022.

Kanshebbers voor de Oscars in 2022

Wel lijkt de kans aannemelijk dat Netflix er met een paar Oscars vandoor gaat. Alleen de film The Power of the Dog is al twaalf keer genomineerd voor het gouden beeldje.

Duidelijk, Netflix Original The Power of the Dog is in 2022 de grootste kanshebber op een Oscar, en dingt mee om het beeldje in verschillende categorieën. Maar waar wat is dit eigenlijk voor film? Welnu, het is een moderne western met Benedict Cumberbatch in de hoofdrol. Ook Jesse Plemons en Kirsten Dunst maken onderdeel uit van de cast.

The Power of the Dog speelt zich af in het Montana van 1925 en vertelt het verhaal van twee broers, die behoorlijk van elkaar verschillen. De dominante en charmante van de twee probeert de nieuwe vrouw van zijn broer en haar tienerzoon te intimideren. Maar dan komen er lang verborgen geheimen aan het licht.
